About the program

For 400 years, Ayutthaya was one of Asia's most cosmopolitan capitals. Today, its ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are among Thailand's most photogenic and iconic landmarks.

On this day trip from Bangkok, we take you to the four must-see temples, treat you to 'boat noodles' at the local market, and end the day with a sunset boat ride on the river.

The tour is private (just your group), with a professional driver and a native Spanish-speaking guide. We depart early to avoid the heat and tour buses.

Day-by-day itinerary

A well-thought-out program, not improvised. We'll tell you what we do every day.

We start before the city wakes up. We'll pick you up directly from the lobby in a private vehicle with cold water. Estimated travel time to Ayutthaya: 90 minutes.

We begin with Ayutthaya's most iconic image: the Buddha's head entangled in the roots of a Bodhi tree. Your guide will then tell you the story of the Kingdom of Siam and the Burmese invasion of 1767.

We climbed up to the Ratchaburana crypt (narrow staircase, not suitable for those who suffer from claustrophobia) and then strolled through the three royal pagodas of Wat Phra Si Sanphet, reserved for the kings of Ayutthaya.

You'll try the famous boat noodles at a market where the locals eat. A serving is inexpensive, so we'll order several flavors to share. Vegetarian options are available.

My favorite temple in Ayutthaya. Built in 1630, it's the perfect spot for photos: symmetrical pagodas on the riverbank bathed in golden light at sunset.

We boarded a traditional longtail boat and circled the historic island of Ayutthaya, seeing temples only accessible from the water.

Leisurely return to the hotel with stops if needed. Estimated arrival: 7:30 PM.

Frequently Asked Questions

What we get asked most often before booking this program.

We’ll pick you up directly from your Bangkok hotel at 6:30 AM. If your accommodation is outside the city center, we’ll let you know the nearest pick-up point at no extra cost.
Yes. We left at 6:30 for two reasons: we avoided Bangkok traffic and arrived at the temples before the tourist buses and the midday heat.
Absolutely. We adapt the pace to the family, we make stops as needed, and the guide knows how to tell the story like a fairy tale so the little ones don’t get bored.
Shoulders and knees must be covered to enter the temples. We have a complimentary sarong in case you forget yours.
